Author Emily Sun Li Visits Seventh-Graders
It’s been many months since an author last visited Sparks Street, but last week, debut novellist Emily Sun Li taught seventh-graders some creative writing tips and tricks. Students will use these new skills for their stories in their upcoming ‘I am From’ night on May 7.
After showing students her first draft of her book, she read the completed, and much-changed, version to the whole group. Li also led them through an exercise in similes and metaphors using food, an element found in her book.
