The BB&N Field Hockey Program is centered on creating a sound and enduring team experience by cultivating a love for the sport, building character and leadership, and encouraging the student-athletes to be accountable to members of their respective teams and communities.

Jaye Locke

Director of Athletics, Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach
Jaye Locke is the BB&N Athletic Director and Varsity Field Hockey Head Coach. Locke is the President of the NEPSWFH and has served in various leadership roles for the NEPSAC & the VISAA while coaching in the DMV. Jaye has been coaching varsity field hockey since 2007 and became the Knights’ Head Coach in 2019. Under Locke’s leadership, BB&N moved over .500, into the top of the ISL, and finished tied at 2nd in the ISL while receiving the ISL Sportsmanship Award. The BB&N team made it to the NEPSAC tournament in 2022 and finished as the NEPSAC Class B Finalist in 2023. Before BB&N, Jaye worked at Milton and EHS and held various faculty positions along with coaching VFH & VSQ. As the EHS head coach, Jaye led the team to the top of the league, won two ISL titles and competed in multiple VISAA tournaments. Locke initially started as an assistant coach at Milton and moved into a co-head role where the team finished in the top of the ISL. Locke has coached and guided numerous players at all schools that have gone on to play at the Div I & III collegiate level. An All-American, 4-year starter, and captain of the Williams FH team, Jaye helped the Ephs win two NESCAC titles, go to four NESCAC finals & four NCAA tournaments. She earned league, region, and team honors. In her high school season as a captain, Jaye’s team went undefeated and won the NEPSAC Class A title. She was recognized with All-league, All-region, & All-NEPSAC honors and named as her town’s Athlete of the Year.

Sarina Simon

Mathematics & Computer Science Teacher, Athletic Coach
Sarina has been a part of the BB&N Field Hockey program since 2021. She played field hockey at Lexington High School. During her time there she also played on the Wizards club team and participated in many Futures tournaments. Although she took a break in college to pursue a degree in Mathematics Education at Boston University, Sarina is eager to be back on the field in this coaching position. She hopes to inspire these young players and foster a connection with them both on the field and in the classroom. She prioritizes tenacity and sportsmanship and hopes that her love for field hockey radiates to the team.

Program Overview:
The BB&N Varsity Field Hockey team competes in two competitive leagues, the Independent School League (ISL) and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). In recent years, BB&N has finished in the top of the ISL and appeared in NEPSAC Class B Tournaments.

The Knights completed their 2023 season tied at #2 in the ISL and was awarded the ISL Sportsmanship Award. The team was the NEPSAC Class B Finalists for the first time in schools history and numerous teammates received ISL, NEPSAC, and NFHCA honors.

The BB&N field hockey program consists of a varsity, a junior varsity, and a middle school team. Coaches believe that through education based athletics, student-athletes will learn numerous skills and values around dedication, resilience, competition, confidence, and courage. They are committed to every athlete’s pursuit of excellence, personal growth, development of character and role within a supportive team community. They are dedicated to establishing a positive and healthy environment that fosters teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, integrity, and mutual respect on and off the field. They seek to inspire and motivate athletes to be their best selves and great teammates.

The Knights are known for their strong and cohesive team culture and the joy they have spending the fall season together, working hard and going after their goals. The Knights are committed to each other, to the field hockey program, to the game, and to the supportive BB&N community and beyond.
