Sixth-Graders Save the Swamp in Spring Musical

By Hannah Garcia May 2, 2025

In this year’s 6th-grade musical, students created a spectacle for the ages when they produced a fan favorite show, Shrek Jr. In the show based on the 2001 film Shrek, the green ogre and his persistent sidekick go on an adventure to rescue Princess Fiona from a fire-breathing dragon for the cruel Lord Farquad.

The musical follows Shrek on a quest to regain his swamp from Lord Farquad, who evicted all of the fairytale creatures from the kingdom to the swamp. Along the way, he meets a talking donkey (named Donkey) and Farquad orders them to rescue Princess Fiona from a fire-breathing dragon to be his queen. While on a whirlwind adventure, Shrek and Fiona grow closer and learn the true meaning of beauty.

In a heartwarming tale of love and acceptance, the students reminded audiences to believe in love and a happy ending. Thank you to Director Jenny Lifson, Music Director David Giardin, and the facilities staff for making this memorable musical possible.
