Music Rings Through the Halls of the Lower School at Winter Concerts

By Hannah Garcia December 12, 2025

The first of many winter music performances across all three campuses, the Lower School launched a week of song with its concerts on Wednesday and Friday morning. Tucked in the gym, students sang, played instruments, and showed their parents all they had learned since the beginning of the school year.

Starting strong with the grades 3-5 concert, led by music teacher Brenda Chien, the older students warmed the audience from the inside out with holiday classics like “Last Christmas” and “My Favorite Things.” In addition to group songs, many students performed solos during the transition time or during class performances, highlighting various instruments such as the violin, viola, piano, guitar, trumpet, and drums.

One group of students even performed “Carole of the Bells,” after discovering that their group blended well while singing in the halls the week before. It was the perfect way to usher in the season and boost excitement for the B-2 concert later in the week.

Despite the chill in the air, audiences left the grades B-2 concert feeling warm from the inside out after a performance focusing on the theme of light and warmth. Students sang and danced to songs about appreciating the season, as well as a song about dragon kisses. Music teacher Sara Zur created a cozy atmosphere to kick off the winter and holiday season for the BB&N community.
