Your Impact

Enhance the impact of your financial support by aligning it with BB&N’s priorities, spanning current needs and future initiatives. By aligning your contribution with the school’s priorities, you help propel our educational goals and ensure sustained long-term growth and success.

The BB&N Fund

The BB&N Fund is our primary giving priority and is a critical component of the school’s annual operating budget.

It directly supports our greatest assets: exceptional faculty, staff, and students; academic excellence and innovation; and a diverse, motivated learning community.

The BB&N Fund

All students, faculty, and staff benefit from The BB&N Fund, which offsets operating budget expenses and offers our leadership team the flexibility to respond quickly to operational needs as they arise. The BB&N Fund makes an impact by helping to fuel:

Financial Aid
In 2022-2023, nearly $10.5 million was distributed for tuition grants to 25% of our students. Financial aid supports students’ books, transportation, technology, global and spring training travel, semester abroad programs, tutoring, and college testing.

Academic Programs

  • Co-curriculars and curriculum enhancements
  • Classroom supplies and digital resources
  • Global education programs and leadership opportunities

Faculty Support

Professional development opportunities and curriculum development

Competitive salaries and benefits

Travel grants for faculty and staff

Arts and Athletics

  • Supplies for visual and performing arts classes
  • Theater performance materials
  • Athletic equipment, uniforms, coaches’ salaries

Equity and Inclusion Programs

Student and family affinity programs that promote equity and inclusion, provide connections to our local and global communities, and enhance opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to affirm their identities, broaden their understanding, and practice principled engagement.

BB&N’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30, and gifts are generally applied to the budget in the school year they are received. Although gifts can be made at any time, contributing to The BB&N Fund early in the fiscal year allows the school to have access to funds as they are needed.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference to BB&N. Participating as a donor at a level appropriate to your circumstances shows that BB&N’s mission, values, and community are important and worth sustaining.

Unless otherwise indicated when making your gift, BB&N Fund gifts are considered as unrestricted and are used to support the area(s) of greatest need. You may also select a specific area of interest at the time you make your gift, and your gift will be used to support the school’s operating expenses in that area.

All donors to The BB&N Fund and other fundraising initiatives are listed by name in the annual Giving and Impact Report unless anonymity has been requested.

In addition, donors of $2,500 or more in a fiscal year are recognized as members of The 1974 Leadership Society. Alumni up to 10 years after graduation who contribute $100 – $999 in a given year, or $1,000 or more 11 to 20 years after graduation, are recognized as Young Alumni Leadership Society members.

Donors who make a gift of any amount and for any purpose for five or more consecutive years are considered as members of the Knights’ Circle, BB&N’s loyalty giving society.

Senior Parent Gift

Each year, parents of students in the senior class are invited to participate in the Senior Parents’ Gift initiative. The Senior Parent Gift has been a tradition for more than 35 years and has provided crucial support for a variety of building and endowment priorities as well as The BB&N Fund. Demonstrating appreciation for their child’s experience during their time at BB&N, Senior Parents often choose to make a gift larger than their annual gift and can pay their gift over several years.

Previous Senior Parent Gifts have been used to establish endowment funds for faculty, financial aid, and global education; and capital building projects including the Upper School Renovation and the Grove Street Athletic Campus. In 2022-2023, the Class of 2023 Senior Parent Gift established the Visiting Innovator Program as part of the school’s Innovation Initiative.

For more information about the Senior Parents’ Gift or to make a gift for this initiative, contact Whitney Dayton Brunet, Senior Development Officer, at 617-800-2734.

Endowment and Capital Projects

BB&N welcomes investments in the school’s future through gifts to the endowment and to capital projects that have been approved and prioritized by the school’s administration and Board of Trustees.

The BB&N endowment, which had a market value of $97,313,343 as of June 30, 2023, comprises more than 175 named and general endowed funds, the income from which provides approximately 6% of BB&N’s operating budget each year.

Endowment funds have been established through outright gifts and bequests from alumni/ae, parents, and friends with a vision for and commitment to BB&N’s future. These funds provide the long-term financial support necessary to sustain many areas of the BB&N operating budget, from faculty compensation, professional development, and financial aid to academic and athletic programs.

Additional gifts of any amount can be made to existing endowment funds. Donors interested in establishing a new named fund should contact Janet Rosen, Director of Stewardship and Advancement Communications, at 617-800-2729.

Without donors’ support, I would not have been able to attend BB&N and have access to quality education.

I’ve always considered the financial aid I received to be an investment in me, and I think my success in life has been a great return on investment.

Having a group of students with a diversity of identities and perspectives deepens the class discourse immeasurably.
