A Comedy Trifecta Plays Out on the Upper School Stage

By Hannah Garcia June 2, 2025

The final theater performance of the year took place over the weekend and featured three short modern comedies. Featuring a play written by senior Hannah Brodsky ’25 to start the showing, students from all grades provided an evening of quick-witted comedy paired with physical humor that delighted audiences.

Directors Ross MacDonald and Maria Zacharia ’25 opened the performance, explaining the unique premise of the presentations, something not yet seen on the Lindberg-Serriestheater stage. The first offering, “Frankenstein Seducing a Woman,” by Hannah Brodsky ’25, questions who the real monster is in the face of a supposed one.

Following a thought-provoking opening, the main event began with Steve Martin’s “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” where famous characters of the 20th century, including Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso, debate love, death, science, art, and their lasting legacies. Finally, rounding out the performance, Miley Chen ’25 and Matthais Paulson ’26 acted out a short script by local playwright John Minigan called “Endless Bargain with Engrossing Death.”

In an amusing performance from all cast members, students closed out the theater season in style, promising more to come next school year. Thank you to costume designer Louise Brown and theater design coordinator Adam Howarth for their assistance in the production.
