Human-Centered AI in Education: An Interactive Workshop with Eric Hudson

Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Buckingham Browne & Nichols School
80 Gerry’s Landing Road, Cambridge MA

Registration Deadline: Friday, February 21, 2025

Overview

The program will begin with a presentation on the current state of generative AI and an overview of the four priorities. Attendees will then participate in a series of short “design sprints” aligned to each priority, working individually and in small groups to consider how these priorities apply to their own work as educators as well as their schools.

“Nearly two years after the release of ChatGPT, schools are considering how to adopt long-term, sustainable strategies to the rise of generative AI. The first step is to reset our priorities to ensure our approach is mission-aligned and human-centered rather than reactive and proscriptive. In this session, we’ll explore four essential priorities: augmentation over automation, literacy over policy, design over technology, and vision over decisions. We’ll look at research and use cases from innovative schools. We’ll discuss use cases that exemplify human-centered use of AI. And, we’ll consider what’s next for our schools in an AI age.”
– Eric Hudson

Facilitator

Eric Hudson, a nationally-recognized thought leader and consultant on AI in schools, will be the featured presenter.

Objectives

– Deepen our understanding of the current and upcoming capabilities of generative AI.

– Consider four priorities for a sustainable, human-centered approach to AI at school: augmentation over automation, literacy over policy, design over technology, vision over decisions.
