BB&N Opens Grove Street Athletic Campus
The weekend of October 8 will truly be one for the ages in the annals of BB&N history. Against a backdrop of sunshine, Homecoming games, food trucks, music, and hundreds of attendees, Head of School Jennifer Price oversaw a ribbon-cutting ceremony signifying the official opening of the school’s new athletic campus at Grove Street in Watertown.
The ceremony marked the culmination of years of hard work, planning, and incredible teamwork between BB&N and the town of Watertown. In her remarks to the crowd preceding the ribbon-cutting, Price thanked both the BB&N team, led by COO/CFO Tara Gohlmann, and the many Watertown constituents who made the project possible, noting especially to the town of Watertown, “You all have been an incredible partner in this exciting private/public partnership.”
Price also hailed the many generous contributors who made the stunning new campus a reality. “Thank you to the many donors who have supported this project. Your belief in this vision was inspirational to all of us, with a special acknowledgement to the parents of the Class of 2022 and BB&N alumnus, Jimmy Berylson ’00.”
The new complex will be a game changer for the school, creating a new way to facilitate community in shared spaces, and allowing enough field space for all teams to practice in a timely manner, ensuring that students are home each day at a reasonable hour. As Price noted, the well-being of students and kids was always at the heart of the endeavor.
“To our BB&N students and the kids of Watertown: You are the reason we did all of this. I can tell you from personal experience that the lessons you learn on these fields about working hard, getting up when you fall down, and the importance of teamwork are lessons that you will carry for the rest of your life. So, let’s cut the ribbon on the newest, and largest BB&N classroom!”
