Grove Street Project

BB&N Acquires Watertown Parcel That Will Become Recreational Complex

In January 2021, BB&N completed the purchase of a 6.1 acre parcel of land on Grove Street in Watertown. BB&N plans to build state-of-the-art playing fields, a field house featuring indoor athletic facilities and community social spaces, plus the addition of 80 parking spots for our community (see "Proposed Grove Street Property Site Plan" rendering above).

Concurrent with the land purchase, BB&N has also entered into a joint-use agreement with the Town of Watertown that would allow BB&N to use the two fields located at Filippello Park, a 14-acre, town-owned park adjacent to the Grove Street lot, after school each day. In return, Watertown residents will have access to the new fields on Grove Street when they are not being used by BB&N. The school believes strongly in the power of building partnerships with neighboring communities to find solutions that will benefit the health and well-being of children, whether or not they attend BB&N.

The resulting proposed 20-acre complex in Watertown is a linchpin of BB&N's strategic plan to build a better all-around experience for BB&N students. This acquisition sets in motion—both near-term and longer-term—the School's aspirations to build smart, sustainable spaces for teaching and learning, playing and performing, and building a more inclusive community.
