BB&N theater students chose a tough act to follow when they took the stage for their winter musical production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; the original 1961 Broadway production garnered seven Tony awards and eventually prompted a 1995 reboot that enjoyed a long run, as well as a 50th anniversary run in 2011.
Clearly, director Mark Lindberg felt his troupe was up to it, and as delighted audiences will attest to, the students were. The story follows the plight of an ambitious young man, J. Pierrepont Finch, who cleverly works his way up the ladder of a large company with the help of a book, the titular How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Through a series of comical shenanigans, plot turns, and musical interludes, the play watches Finch finagle his way to corporate success, finding time to discover true love in the process.
