Singers Hit All the Right Notes at Cabaret Night

The tenor of the evening was full-hearted disclosure as twenty-one Upper School students—including two sets of siblings—braved the spotlight to croon ballads and belt out anthems at the annual Cabaret Night. Featuring Broadway show tunes, some contemporary pop songs, and a couple of classics from the traditional American songbook, the performances brimmed with professions of love and longing, declarations of self-worth, and dreams of future success. The popular showcase for students taking voice lessons, as well as other singing enthusiasts, also featured voice teacher Adriana Repetto and Chorale director Joseph Horning, who organized and hosted the spirited event, which he kicked off with one of King George III’s comic numbers from the genre-redefining hit Hamilton. Horning also provided piano accompaniment for some students, as did Counselor Doug Neuman, Valerie Becker P ’15, Henry Goddard ’20, and Will Carter ’20.
