BB&N Homecoming 2022 Begins a New Chapter

Looking out over the sparkling new field complex at Grove Street in Watertown during last weekend’s Homecoming, Head of School Jennifer Price commented to a bystander who had noted the impressive turnout of attendees, “It’s a new BB&N.”

The comment spoke volumes to the significance of the beautiful fall afternoon at the school’s new fields. Hundreds of students, alumni/ae, parents, teachers, and bystanders had turned out to cheer on BB&N’s sports teams, but a look around the grounds showed that beyond the cheering, a community was coming together for something more than sports; Lower School students played games on the sidelines and practice field, students dressed in spirited attire mingled and chatted, a live D.J. spun feel-good tunes, alums and faculty reconnected alongside food trucks, and for the first time, the school hosted all of its Homecoming games at “home” locations.

Prior to the start of the varsity football game, Price had overseen a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the Grove Street fields, remarking on the incredible collaboration and support from both BB&N constituents and the town of Watertown that had made the project possible. Earlier in the day, cross country, field hockey, and volleyball matches had occurred at the Upper School campus before crowds made the short jaunt to the new fields for the afternoon soccer and football games. And on Friday, both varsity field hockey and varsity girls soccer kicked off the weekend with impressive wins. 

Certainly, it was a BB&N Homecoming to remember, and a promise of many more wonderful ones to come!
