Applicant Guidelines and Resources

2023 applicant Guidelines

We invite you to apply if you meet the following criteria: 

  • You are a BB&N graduate from the Classes of 2003 to 2022

  • You are available to present your pitch on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in person or virtually

  • You have an idea including, but not limited to, the following:
    Community development project
    Non-profit startup
    Social venture
    New product idea
    New business concept

  • Your idea is in the early stages of the business life cycle (pre-revenue or ideas with <$250,000 in revenue)

Application Details

  • Please submit your application by Tuesday, February 7 at 11 a.m. ET

  • Submit a 5-slide pitch deck that includes information addressing the following:

    1. Product or Service (i.e, the problem and your solution
    2. Market Opportunity
    3. Competitive Difference
    4. Market Analysis
    5. Team / Organizational Structure

  • We ask you to give the judges the information needed to help them understand your business or venture, but invite you to make your presentation your own.

  • By applying to the competition, applicant(s) give organizers the right to share information about the applicant(s) and their entrepreneurial endeavor to the BB&N community (including but not limited to The Board of Trustees, Alumni/ae Council and BB&N faculty). 

  • Application requires a gmail account login. If you do not have a gmail account and would like to apply please reach out to pitchcompetition@bbns.org

  • Applicants can contact pitchcompetition@bbns.org with any questions.

Presentation Details 

  • Each presentation should be up to 10 minutes and there will be ~5 minutes of Q&A.

  • Presentations cannot be more than 5 PowerPoint slides. File must be in PowerPoint format or PDF or Google Slides.

  • The presentation materials submitted must be the applicant(s) original work. 

  • The applicant(s) will retain all rights to the materials regarding their use at all times prior to and following the event.

Key Dates

  • Monday, December 19: Information session at 5 p.m. ET

  • Thursday, January 5: Application is live at 11 a.m. ET​

  • Wednesday, January 18: Information session at 5 p.m. ET

  • Tuesday, February 7: Applications close at 11 a.m. ET

  • Sunday, March 5: Pitch Competition Event from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. ET
