Student Profiles
Tommy, Senior![]() “I love that ‘let’s get this done’ attitude.”
“I like the whole marketing and advertising gig,” says Tommy, explaining why for his senior spring project he’s doing an internship with Boston-based communications giant Hill Holiday. His chief responsibility has been research—his latest project has been to compare the community outreach campaigns of organizations as different as Target and the Massachusetts Lottery. And even though he’s one of a just a handful of high-school-age interns with the firm—most are college students—he has felt well prepared for this particular gig. Economics classes have given him a good academic foundation for the hands-on experience he’s now getting. English papers have helped with the reports he’s been called upon to write for his supervisors. Statistics classes have prepared him for the occasional number-crunching task that lands on his plate. Even serving as a Student Council representative has been valuable, giving him experience working with closely with peers on school projects. But most important, Tommy says, has been the whole approach to learning that’s characteristic of BB&N. “Students here know what they want, and are willing to do the work they need to do to get it,” says the senior from Roxbury, who will start at Bowdoin College in the fall. “I love that ‘let’s get this done’ attitude. Was it hard at times? Yes, but I did it. And now I can take on the world.” Tommy's Activities |
