“My teacher says I have an overactive imagination.”
“I guess theater is a way of compensating for that. There’s also this love of allusion and being able to channel another person when you act. I really enjoy this—it is the main reason I do it.

“I first started doing church musicals when I was 4. When I was 10 I started doing community and regional theater until 9th grade. Then I began doing theater at BB&N, which has been a fabulous experience. Mr. Lindberg is our director, and he’s a genius—there’s no other way to describe him. The shows he teaches are really innovative and fun to work on.

“There’s a real growing process that comes when you perform for a live audience. Having living, breathing human beings right there in front of you is just ultimately so dynamic. The moments of connection you have are really great. I don’t think anything else can come close to that.

“The teachers at BB&N are great. The students really want to learn and are smart, so it’s fun to have that kind of vibrant community, where you’re talking about academics not just in the classroom, but over lunch, on the athletic fields, wherever. And we’re in this incredible location—a 15-minute walk from Harvard Square, right on the Charles River. I’m a runner and I run by the river every day. That’s incredible!”
