Ways to Give

Annual Fund and Capital Gifts may be made via cash, check, credit card, or securities. Capital and endowment gifts may also be made through a variety of planned or deferred gifts. All gifts to BB&N are tax deductible, and the External Affairs Office sends a tax receipt for all gifts. BB&N’s Annual Fund year runs from July 1 to April 30, and to be credited as a gift for the fiscal year, payments must be received by June 30 of that year.

Cash

Most contributions to BB&N are made in the form of cash or check. Checks should be made payable to BB&N and sent to: Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, External Affairs Office, 80 Gerry's Landing Road, Cambridge, MA 02138-5512

Credit Cards

BB&N also accepts gifts and pledge payments by VISA and MASTERCARD. Donors are encouraged to use credit cards as a method of making their gift, as it saves the School time and money and no pledge reminders need to be sent. Click Give Now link at right to make a gift using your credit card. Credit card gifts and payments can also be called in to the External Affairs Office at 617-800-2727 with the following information: donor’s name, credit card number and expiration date, mount of gift, and gift designation.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many gifts to BB&N also qualify for corporate matches. A complete list of the corporations with matching gift programs for secondary schools may be obtained by contacting the BB&N Development Office. Donors should obtain a matching gift form from their company’s Human Resources Office, and complete and mail the form with their gift or pledge payment to the External Affairs Office. BB&N will certify receipt of the gift and return the form to the company. Most companies do not stipulate that their employees must be alumni/ae or otherwise affiliated with the school to which they are making a gift in order to qualify for a matching gift. Consequently, if your spouse works for a company with a matching gift program, your gift may also be eligible for a match from his/her company. See link at right to find out if your company has a matching gift program.

Securities

If a broker holds the securities, ask your broker to contact the Director of Advancement Programs at 617-800-2788. Send a letter (or a copy of your letter of instruction to your broker) to the BB&N External Affairs office, explaining the designation of the gift and your broker's name and telephone number. The gift will be valued on the day your broker transfers the securities to BB&N's account, using the mean market value of the securities on that day. Please note that electronic transfer is the fastest method for the transfer of securities; reissuing a stock certificate in BB&N's name causes delays.

If you hold the securities, please send the unendorsed certificate by registered mail to BB&N’s External Affairs Office along with a letter of instruction stating your name, address and the purpose of the gift. Under separate cover, mail a copy of your original letter of instruction with a signed stock power form, available from the External Affairs Office. The stock power form only requires your signature, not completion on your part.
See Securities Transfer Instructions download at right for more information.
