Now More Weeks to Choose From! Lego WeDo and MIT's Scratch Camp Week
One full week of playing with LEGOs and programming in Scratch... and now three camp weeks to choose from.... what more could one ask for?!? LEGO WeDo kits introduce students to robotics by having them build LEGO models that include motors and sensors then program their models using the LEGO WeDo software. Scratch is an MIT-developed programming environment where one can create interactive stories, games, music, and art- and share them online! When used in conjunction with Scratch, the student-created LEGO models can control the animations in scratch and vice versa. Students will have the opportunity to build LEGO models and program them, as well as explore the world of Scratch. Instructor: Megan Haddadi. This will be Megan's second year working at the BB&N Summer Camp, though she is no stranger to BB&N! She has been working as a teacher at BB&N for 4 years, teaching technology to 4th, 5th and 6th graders. Megan also attended BB&N as a student from Beginners through 8th grade, and now her daughter is attending BB&N as well. Before working at BB&N, Megan worked in technology at the King & Low-Heywood Thomas School in Stamford, CT, where she also coached soccer, ice hockey, lacrosse and gymnastics. She graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Bryn Mawr College and is currently pursuing her Masters in Technology in Education at Lesley University. Outside of being a computer geek, Megan also loves to run, do yoga, meditate, and bake.
