Overnight Camp: Gr 5-7

The New Hampshire Overnight Program (NHOP) is a weeklong program to include 3 days and two nights overnight in Marienfeld, New Hampshire, for grades 5-7 (NEW THIS YEAR: This program is only for our older campers in grades 5-7!!). NHOP is no longer an option to the camp week, but now its own stand-alone program! We have a total of 5 individual week-long camps to all boys and girls entering grades 5-7. Grade determination is based on the grade the camper will be entering after camp/summer is complete. Based at BB&N's Camp Marienfeld, in Chesham, NH, the site includes 200 acres of fields and mixed forest.

The New Hampshire Overnight Program offers an opportunity for Cambridge area children to experience a three day sleep away camp at BB&N’s Camp Marienfeld, in beautiful Harrisville, New Hampshire.  Groups are typically between 10 and 20 campers. 

The trip departs  Tuesday morning and returns in time for pick up on Thursday afternoon.  After arriving at Camp Marienfeld, the campers move into the cabins (one for boys, and one for girls), then games on the field until lunch.   In the afternoon we swim at a nearby lake, play games and build sand sculptures.   After dinner a night hike takes us to a campfire with stories and songs.  On Wednesday morning we hike either Gap Mountain or North Pack Monadnock.  At the summit we pick blueberries for a delicious snack and gather more for the blueberry pancakes on Thursday morning.  After a picnic lunch we go for an afternoon swim.  In the evening, another campfire with s’mores and stories.  Thursday morning we take a nature walk to the local beaver pond and heronry.  Upon returning from the pond, where we often see evidence of the beavers (and sometimes the beaver himself!), teams compete in the Blueberry Olympics.  After lunch we return to Cambridge.  Sue and Tom Randall co direct the program supported by an excellent group of counselors.  All meals are prepared on site by the directors.

In response to our camper surveys, we have extended the NHOP program to add a trip day on Friday! We also have now included our 7th Graders into this program. The NHOP Campers begin the week on like all other Summer Campers by attending the BB&N Day Camp on Monday from 8:30-3:30 to participate in general camp activities as well as team building activities. After arrival at BB&N on Tuesday morning, the NHOP Campers will head out with their counselors to Camp Marienfield in NH and return to Day Camp by 3:30pm dismissal on Thursday for a total of 2 nights and 3 days of sleep away camp. (NHOP campers extend their experience with a trip day on Friday!). NHOP campers should be dropped off at Day Camp on Friday at 8:30am and will take off shortly thereafter with their counselors for an off-site adventure trip for the day (water country weather permitting, rain plan museums or aquarium). Please drop off and pick up your child from the Gym parking lot on Friday at 3:30.

Grade Level: Grade 5 to Grade 7 (grade determination is based on the grade the camper will be entering in Sept after the completion of the summer)
