BB&N Appoints Two Varsity Basketball Coaches

BB&N Athletic Director Rick Foresteire ’86 is pleased to announce the appointment of two new varsity head coaches: Nick Papas for boys’ basketball and Anthony Taylor for girls’ basketball.

Nick Papas was the head boys’ basketball coach at Burlington (Mass.) High School for the past eight years and led them to three state tournament appearances. Prior to Burlington, he was at Melrose High School, where he coached the program to 22 consecutive winning seasons, 13 state tournament appearances, and, along with the undefeated 1989 team, was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. He has been a head coach for more than 35 years, reached the 400 victory milestone this past winter, and is a true coaching legend in the Boston area.

Anthony Taylor is the director of basketball operations for the Visionary Basketball Group. He has been coaching players ages 8-18 for the past four years. Prior to starting his current coaching profession, he enjoyed a remarkable playing career and is considered to be one of the best players ever to come out of the Boston area. While attending North Cambridge Catholic High School, he was a three-time Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic, three-time Catholic League MVP, and was named a McDonald’s All-American. After graduation, Coach Taylor accepted a scholarship to Miami of Ohio University, where he was a four-year letter-winner and participated in the NCAA Tournament “Sweet Sixteen” round. His professional career included stops in NBA prospect camps, CBA, USBL, and China.

“I am excited to welcome both of these outstanding coaches to our community,” says Foresteire. “There will be an informational Meet the Coaches Night on Thursday, June 18, 5:30 pm, in the Nicholas Athletic Center for all interested students, parents, faculty/staff, and friends.”
