$2.45 Million Goal Annual Fund Announced for '08-09

With a strong team of solicitors in place, the Annual Fund is off to a positive start and has raised over $700,000 (or 29%) of its $2.45 million goal for 2008-09.

The Annual Fund is BB&N’s annual program to raise the funds necessary to bridge the “gap” in the operating budget between tuition and the actual cost of a BB&N education. This year, the “gap” per student is $6,680.

The Annual Fund underlies all independent school education and is essential to sustain the program of excellence that has come to define BB&N, by supporting Academic Programs, Arts, Athletics, Faculty Compensation and Professional Development, Financial Aid, and Technology. Specifically, last year, the Annual Fund helped to support:

- Faculty compensation and professional development opportunities for BB&N’s 143 talented and dedicated faculty, 80% of whom have at least one master’s degree.

- Financial aid grants received by 23% of BB&N students, with an average grant of $22,500.

- The installation of new energy efficient lighting in the Etter Gymnasium and tennis courts.

- The replacement of old single pane windows with triple-e insulated windows at the Upper School Woodshop.

- Installation of 13 Smart Boards at the Lower School and Middle School.

- Team uniforms for Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ Basketball, and Field Hockey.

Given these current uncertain economic times, one thing is certain: a BB&N education will never lose its value and will benefit each student for a lifetime.
