Athletic Facilities

Middle School athletics take place at the splendid array of facilities and fields at the Upper School and elsewhere. The Nicholas Athletic Center at the Upper School campus on Gerry’s Landing Road was opened in 1998 and represents one of the most complete athletic facilities of any private school in the Greater Boston area. The state-of-the-art complex features the John H. Etter Gymnasium, an ice rink and indoor tennis courts, an indoor rowing tank, seating for 450 spectators, an 11,000-square-foot fitness center, and the beautiful Stonestreet Lounge. The complex also includes a 3,700-square-foot sports medicine area, administrative offices, and locker rooms. In addition to this main indoor facility, BB&N teams compete on four playing fields, two of them directly on campus. BB&N also boasts a beautiful red boathouse on the Charles River.

Nichols Field
Located on Upper School campus, to the right of the US Building, next to the Nicholas Athletic Center.

Buckingham Field
Located on Fresh Pond Parkway just opposite the New Cambridge Water Works Building between Huron Ave. and the Concord Ave. rotary.

BB&N Boathouse
Located directly across from the Upper School campus, on the Charles River.
Varsity races are held between Weeks Footbridge and Magazine Beach - Riverside Boat Club. Sub-varsity races are held up river between Northeastern Boathouse and the Eliot Bridge.

Smith Field
Located on Western Avenue in Cambridge; main entrance on Western Ave. just west of the corner intersection with North Harvard Street. Smith Field is owned and operated by the City of Boston.

Arsenal Tennis Courts
Located in Arsenal Park, behind the parking lot to the right of the Arsenal Mall.at 485 Arsenal Street in Watertown.

Entrance is located on Fresh Pond Parkway, the first left just beyond Huron Avenue traveling outbound toward Arlington.
