ASAP: Math League

League of Knights: MATH LEAGUE: Tournament Prep

League of Knights classes are offered to our more dedicated students who have an interest in preparing for competition. Altough the classes are offered to all dedicated students, it is anticipated that a smaller subset of the class will be eligible to represent BB&N in the actual competitions. League of Knights classes typically run once a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes per class through the semester.  Additional costs for competition fees and expenses will be the additional responsibility of each competing family and will be brought to the attention of all affected families prior to competition. League of Knights classes are encouraged to fund raise to off-set the cost of competitions. Any fundraising activities must be approved by the class instructor as well as by the Manager of Extended Year Services (MEYS).  All monies received must be provided to the MEYS along with accounting documentation to be deposited in the League account.

Financial Aid may be available to any student that qualifies for aid that is also selected to compete in a League of Knights tournament or competition.  Aid request must be submitted in writing to the MEYS at least 30 days prior to competition. In general, students who are chosen to represent BB&N in a competition or tournament will be eligible to receive aid in the same proportion as he/she has been awarded for tuition.

In order for a student or group of students to enter into any competition or tournament as a representative of BB&N, they must comply with the standards of conduct representative of a BB&N student at all times.  BB&N will provide T-shirts for all League of Knights Teams to be worn during tournaments and competitions at no additional cost to the competing students.

Competition and Tournament details and dates will be provided by each League of Knights Instructor.

Mr. Z will lead our Math League students every week in problem solving skills focused on the potential to compete in "The Math League" competitions.  The Math League has Contests for Grades 4 through 8, Algebra 1 students, and High School Students. Over one million students from the United States and Canada participate in Math League Contests each year. Every contest has questions from different areas of mathematics. The goal is to encourage student interest and confidence in mathematics through solving worthwhile problems. Many students first develop an interest in mathematics through problem-solving activities such as these contests. Schools compete in statewide or multistate league competitions.
