MLK Jr. Brunch Brings Community Together
The BB&N community gathered once again this year to commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a celebration brunch. Featuring student speakers, a visiting gospel group, and student dancer Axel Lopez ’13, the brunch hit all of the right notes.
“This year's brunch was one of the best ever,” says Director of Multicultural Services, Lewis Bryant. “The students were both thoughtful and eloquent, the food was delicious, guests were appreciative, and the music was perfect.”
Gospel group “Confirmation” provided their usual uplifting harmonies, Lopez showcased his impressive hip-hop dance repertoire, and many guests found great poignancy in the words of the Upper School students who spoke: Julian Correa ’12, Caitlin Danehy ’12, Lise Guerrier ’12, and Rodshell Fleurinord ’13. All of the students shared their experiences from attending the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference, reflecting on what they learned, how the experience changed them, and how they view their responsibility as members of the community having attended the conference.
