Upper Schoolers Earn 39 Globe Scholastic Writing Awards
The annual Boston Globe Scholastic Writing Awards were announced in January, and BB&N blew the field away for the second consecutive year. Upper School students dominated the list with an amazing 39 winning entries (including 13 “Gold Key” honors) ranging across all four grades, a full 17 more entries than the next closest school. Over 700 sudents submitted individual pieces of writing and 115 of those won Gold Keys. Two BB&N students, Serena Blacklow '13 and Allison Saparof '13, won American Voices Nominees, an honor given to only five pieces of Gold Key-winning writing. The five works were selected by the Globe's judges as the "Best of the Best" in this year's program. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 11.
“Congratulations to those students who received individual Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, and portfolio Gold Keys,” said Boston Globe Scholastic program director Timothy O'Connor. “The competition was intense and the award decisions were difficult for the judges.”
