Campaign Milestone Reached with Opening of New Upper School Campus

When doors opened to the new Upper School campus in early September, BB&N students, faculty, and staff were greeted with the first visible accomplishment of the Opening Minds Campaign─the significant renovation of much of the Upper School campus and an entirely new building (Renaissance Hall) circling a courtyard that has truly become the “heart” of the Upper School.

Early donors to the Campaign, including many who made unrestricted gifts to support both the building and endowment priorities of the Campaign, enabled the project to be completed on time, on budget, and just 18 months from the start of construction.

The new building was formally dedicated at the Opening Doors Celebration on a glorious Saturday afternoon, September 29, 2007.  READ MORE...

The new wing at the Upper School was named Renaissance Hall after a community-wide naming competition suggested by the anonymous donors whose $10 million challenge gift launched the Campaign in 2003.  The 33,000 square feet of new space includes classrooms, visual arts studios, music and dance rehearsal and performance space, faculty offices, and student gathering spaces.  Additionally, 36,000 square feet of existing space has been renovated to provide a new Student Commons/dining area/servery, internet café, new theater and back-of-house spaces, renovated library, a new science lab and project room, and a striking new front entrance.
