After School
The After School Programs at the Lower School are comprised of options that go beyond the end of the school day at 3PM.
Our regular After School Program is for children in Beginners through grade six who want a balance of organized and free activities which provide a pleasant, comfortable, and less structured afternoon experience. Activities include free play, games, art, stories, and a quiet place for homework. For Beginners, the Extended Day program runs from 12-3PM, Monday through Friday, on days when school is in session. After-school care is available for all Lower School students, Beginners through Grade 6 from 3-5:30PM, Monday through Friday.
The After School Activities Program includes more structured activities for those students in grades K-6 who wish to participate. This program may include chess, Spanish, karate, hip-hop dancing, jazz, and Chinese language lessons. These classes typically meet for one hour after school once a week. The offerings change several times throughout the school year to provide variety. There is an additional charge for these classes.
The Study Skills Program is for students recommended by homeroom teachers in Grades 5 and 6 who stay after School to do homework and skill review. This program runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the Study Skills Classroom.
In addition to After School activities, BB&N provides an Early Morning Drop-Off Program to assist parents and give students a day of smooth transition. Parents may take advantage of this early morning program on a space available basis. Lower School students in this program may arrive at 7:45AM for a supervised play period until 8:10AM. There is no charge for this program. Between 8:10AM and the opening of school at 8:20AM, supervised playground time is available to all Lower School Students.
