BB&N 2008-2009 Benefit Offerings

Health
The School offers two plan options through Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan (HPHC). An employee can choose between an HMO and a High-Deductible PPO. Expenses toward the High Deductible PPO can be funded through a pretax Health Savings Account. The school pays the full cost of individual coverage for full-time employees. The school pays a large part of the cost of family coverage, depending on the type of plan chosen. Coverage for qualified domestic partners, either same-sex or opposite sex, is available under family coverage.

Dental
Dental insurance is available through Delta's Premier Voluntary Plan. There are no deductibles and each member of the family is eligible to receive up to $1000 in benefits each year. In addition, coverage is available for visits to the dentist either in or out of network, but coverage is more favorable for in network dentists.

Retirement Plan
After one year of service, the School contributes the equivalent of 6% of an employee's salary to a defined contribution retirement plan offered through Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association and The College Retirement Equities Fund. The School will also match the first 2% of an employee's contribution to retirement savings plan offered through TIAA-CREF.

Supplemental Retirement Account
Employees may elect to make tax-deferred contributions to a retirement savings plan. Employees can enroll in this benefit and choose from a selection of funding vehicles. The maximum amount that can be contributed under this plan is subject to IRS regulations.

Group Long Term Disability
This plan provides financial protection during a period of disability. Benefits begin 90 days after the onset of disability and provide a monthly benefit based on 60% of monthly earnings received before disability begins.

Short Term Disability
After one year of service, the School provides short term disability coverage on a self insured basis. The practice is to provide 100% salary continuation for documented medical disability, including delivery and recuperation from childbirth, for up to three months.

Group Life
The School provides life insurance coverage equal to 1 times the base annual salary up to a maximum of $100,000.

Voluntary Long Term Care
This insurance plan provides coverage for long term care needs, including nursing home in-home care services. It is available to employees and spouses, parents, grandparents, and sibling family members from ages 18 to 80, as well as parents, grandparents and siblings of the employee's spouse.

Flexible Benefit Plans; Medical/Dental & Dependant Care
Employees can save money by contributing up to $3000 on a pre-tax basis to medical/dental and/or up to $5000 for a dependent care spending account. These accounts can be used to pay for qualified medical/dental and dependent care expenses.

Discount Personal Insurance
Liberty Mutual Savings Plus Plan offers discounts on personal insurance through payroll deduction. Auto, homeowner, personal property, boat, and vacation property insurance is offered.

Employee Assistance
The School provides a confidential source of assistance for personal problems including assessment and referral, short term counseling, legal advice, budget and debt counseling, and assistance with work/family issues including child and elder care.

MBTA Monthly Pass Program
The School can arrange for employees to receive MBTA monthly passes at work. Up to $100 of the monthly cost can be paid via payroll deduction on a pre-tax basis.

Note: This is a brief description of employee benefits. More detailed information is available from the BB&N human resources office. Employees who work at least 50% time and are not seasonal or temporary are eligible for benefits. Certain benefits may have waiting periods before an employee is eligible to participate in the plan.
